The Mission of the Restore the Horse Foundation is to:
- Receive and administer grants and contributions of money or property from individuals, private organizations and public sources and to apply or disburse these contributions for the benefit of the citizens of Southeastern Michigan by funding, assisting or undertaking programs and activities to maintain and expand the Wayne County Sheriff Mounted Unit.
- The mission is not exclusive and may be expanded at a future date to support other mounted police units that serve the Southeastern Michigan Area.
The foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charitable trust with IRS approval on May 7, 2007 and a Charitable Solicitation License was issued by the State of Michigan on May 30, 2007.
The creation of the Restore the Horse Foundation is a dream come true for the Foundation Trustees. We firmly believe that a viable mounted unit is a necessary part of any urban police force, a fact borne out by New York, Cleveland, Chicago and other cities across America. We want you to share in the excitement and delight that horses will bring back to Detroit, Wayne County and Southeastern Michigan.
